I have spent far too much time this afternoon trying to alter the header on my blog. I have even been driven to opening that sloe gin and having a little glass - evidence shown at the side. Whatever I do I cannot get the photo to just fit the header box. It either becomes humungous or I get the photo with a bit of white space either side. How do the rest of you get such beatifully well proportioned personalised headers? I'm ok with downloading a whole blog layout but I want to use my own photo. And it is driving me mad!
On a lighter note, is it my imagination or can you see a shape within the glass at the side? I can see a puppies head. See the little red face? The two little ears? a little shiny nose? Or have I truly been driven insane by the mighty Blogspot?!
Or it could be a baby bears head?
ReplyDeleteSorry can't help with the header...it's all beyond me!
It's a beautiful photo..I can see why you'd like to use it! I don't have much of a clue, but I read in "Blogging for Bliss" that a 2-column blog needs a banner width of 660 pixels and height of around 300. Does that help? Certainly email me, I'll be happy to answer any cruise questions!
ReplyDeleteLol I can see a red version of the sloth from Ice Age in that glass - how funny! :)
ReplyDeleteI have that trouble at times with my header too and often end up picking a different picture that DOES fit better.....I will be interested to see if you find the perfect answer!!!
I'm sure it has to do with being able to read and alter the html in the blog template.....
Makes me think of one of those little characters that nods along to an iPod... But then, I probably am insane already!
ReplyDeleteIt took me ages to alter the size of my header pic so it would fit. I cropped top and bottom as much as possible to make it wide and not very tall, that helped. The final version was 930 pixels by 394. Good luck!
I've just been catching up on your blog, sorry for my recent neglect of it... But catching up has been fun :-) I have lots of recipes in mind for sharing so I hope I can help you out with that!
All the best for 2010 xx
I can see the puppies too!
ReplyDeleteI found this helpful for my header
http://mompopson.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-to-make-your-own-blog-header.html
didn't use it exactly, but, it might help you get started - I also turned the borders to the colour of my background - white, that way, if photos or the header are a different size they don't get restricted by the border around them.
