It's all a bit fishy

"Why are you washing up that empty sardine tin?" asked The Husband.
"I need it for a craft project" I replied.
Then followed a raised eyebrow look which I have noticed happening more and more frequently whenever I see something on the internet that I fancy trying.
It all started when I saw something on UK Stampers which involved an empty sardine tin with a flower inside and I thought ' You know what?  I never have a go at doing an 'altered art' project, loads of other people do - so I'm going to try this.'  Having spent a frustrating time this morning with fiddly bits of paper, foam pads and glue, I've remembered why I never have a go at altered art projects.  So, as you will probably never see me tackle something like this again, I have photographed it for posterity ...

I love it, well done you. My problem with altering stuff is wondering where I will put the finished article. Where is this one heading?

Your sardine tin looks great. I can just imagine the raised eyebrows...at least he doesn't say ' not something else to gather dust' like a certain person here does! They just don't understand :-)

Oh, come on - that's really cute Deb! And it's the perfect excuse for eating sardines, which I love.

I love your tin Deb, it's just so cute. I live with the'raised eyebrows' on a daily basis in my house.

what a great job! I'm almost inspired to make husband eat some sardines (or feed them to the cat, no one else here will touch them!)

A much better use for a Sardine can if you ask me - I can't stand the things. I get the raised eyebrows a lot as well.

I think your tin looks really sweet Deb, I love having little bits of art like that dotted around the house. Even if hubby isn't sure about them!

My hubby is quite good by now - he even pics up random objects like empty egg-boxes and asks if they're of any use to me before getting rid of them! Trouble is, I can usually think of a reason for saying 'yes' so now we hoard all kinds of junk...! x

Well I think your result is every bit as impressive as the one in the link!! But I'm afraid I'm with Denise's Hubby inasmuch as I always see altered art as dust collecters!! Doesn't stop me admiring them though...I just don't make any!! :)

I love it! I don't do altered projects much because then I wonder what to do with them. Will others enjoy them as much as the work I put into them? So hard...

PS> The Monkees are currently touring - want to come to a concert in the US? :)
