It's been a while since we took a photo of us all together and I think this could be the picture that gets me back into Scrapbooking mode.
It's been so long since I blogged, I have had time to grow some facial hair
We had a fake New Year last night. Friends of ours who moved to Belgium were visiting locally and the friends they were staying with hosted a Mexican themed evening, complete with moustaches and red flowers for your hair. Oh, and margaritas of course!
So I've noticed people mentioning intentions to join in projects. Project Life, One little word etc and part of me wants to join in, yet part of me thinks I would fall by the wayside as the weeks progressed. I am keen to make a commitment to something, but what to chose?
In the meantime, I've ordered a jelly roll of fabric to start my next quilting project. Never made a jelly roll quilt before and I can't wait for it to arrive so I can start. Time I turned that dining room back into my crafting space ;-)
So hands up, who's intending to join in a weekly/monthly project? And if you are, tell me what it is so that I might put it on my list of possibles to join in too!
Hi Deb,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful when the whole family will actually sit for a photo? We made it a priority to do this year, too (at least for my side of the family).
I will select a One Little Word again this year (I have for the last five years), but I don't do it with a class or specific project. I usually buy a necklace with the word to help me keep it on my mind.
I really loved Helena's look up//look down weekly photo meme and will continue with her this year on a focus in<focus out.
I am not a project life person myself.
Rinda
It looks like you had a lovely time. I'm with you on the whole 2014 project thingy...I have no idea what I want to do/commit too ! x Happy 2014 x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo Deb. Love your mustache - Kiera was quite jealous when I showed her!
ReplyDeleteHow about joining me on a project I am starting - a challenge to do one new thing a month for a year, not too onerous and as exciting as you wish to make it!
What a fab idea Karen! 12 new things should be do-able. What kind of things are on your list?
DeleteGreat photo, you even look good in a moustache ;) I am definitely not a PL or 365 type person. I would get behind, feel pressure and guilty and see it as drudgery instead of a creative outlet. I hope to explore painting more and wrap up some old projects and I am hoping to learn more about quilting. The Friendship Quilt project has gotten me very interested. I enjoy doing the memes that don't require a year long commitment, ones I can flow into and out of so hope that bloggers like Sian and Abi will continue to encourage us with those.
ReplyDeleteGreat family photo - the row of blonde women are clearly related.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on either a photo a day or photo a week project following a set of prompts plus continuing my photo meme and month in numbers
Great pictures! I got a knit your own moustache book for Christmas..
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking more quilting here too, so here's to more sewing in 2014!
Great family photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good at committing to things either....but I'm enjoying the friendship quilt and want to do more sewing this coming year.I also like joining in Abi's '20 words' as it's so easy to take part.
Fun photos - and you are actually smart enough to have everyone pose in front of a draped window. Our pics didn't turn out so well in front of a blinded window and the tree. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely group photo ~ not a Christmas jumper in sight (unlike in our house!).
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on a number of projects for 2014, as per usual, but I'm really hoping to brainstorm some new blog ideas.
Love the group shot and also the one of you with your sporty facial hair! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm excusing myself from any and all monthly/yearly/sign-up-for-anything in 2014. That doesn't mean I won't join in here and there if I feel like it, but I'm coasting this year.
I'll be curious to know how you like working with a jelly roll for quilting! I used a white jelly roll for Carrie's quilt recently and I loved having the strips pre-cut like that! My shoulder was really happy to not have to slice all that. The only thing I didn't care for was the way the edges were pinked - made for a bit of a mess and also took some getting used to for seam allowances. Have fun!!!
