Me on Monday - Jan 5

I'm sulking.  Can you tell I'm sulking?  Back to school blues, just as bad for staff as it is for students.  What's worse is that it's a CPD day.  Which means hours of sitting on hard, plastic school chairs in a chilly, draughty school hall listening to presentations are that are primarily aimed at teachers and of no interest or use to support staff.  Oh but it's hard to go back after almost 3 weeks away.  But all good things must come to an end eh?

How was your first weekend of January?  Ours was one full of good intentions.  You see I signed up for 'Apartment Therapy'.  I live in a house rather than an apartment but when it comes to lack of enthusiasm in housework, boy do I need therapy! It's a January cure - a simple task once a day for every day of the month and you should end up with your home 'under control, fresh, clean and organized'.  That's exactly what I need after 2 weeks of constant comings and goings. This weekend's task was to clean/vacuum every floor in the house which happily coincided with us having friends over on Saturday night, so all the downstairs rooms would have been done anyway!
Good intentions too as far as eating more healthily too.  All leftovers have gone, the only chocolates left are the ones no one likes and there is no excuse for over indulging.  I'm trying to incorporate more drinking water into my life too.  As I currently don't drink water at all, that's not going to be too hard I guess.
It was also a weekend of dismantling trees and storing decorations away for next year, for getting the house back to normal and finding little bits of glitter in random places.  Christmas is officially over here.
Time to get that sewing machine out again 😀

Giving up a big wave to Sian who got us all started on the Me on Monday meme.

  1. The apartment therapy sounds interesting, I'll definitely be investigating that later. It was back to school for my two today and I'll be teaching classes tomorrow and Wednesday. Dying to get my sewing machine out too. Hope your week improves.

  3. I receive similar emails from a site called, organised housewife (I think) and the daily emails just give something to declutter or clean each day.

  5. We are living the same life in so many ways, hope we both have cleaner, more organized, less cluttered homes this year!

  6. Sorry to hear about the plastic chairs and lectures - shame the powers that be don't ask what you might all find useful. Though if it's any consolation, I suspect half the teaching staff would rather be clearing their stock cupboards and sorting their lesson plans. Hoping for a less blue rest of the week for you. (I had signed up for apartment therapy too :) - glad the floors bit is over!).

  7. "Fresh, clean and organised" sounds like a great plan..I'm stuck halfway in between putting Christmas away at the minute. There are bits of things everywhere.

I hope you get settled in and have a great week. I can remember my Mum when she was teaching - she was worse than we were about going back!

  8. I think I saw the Apartment Therapy idea on facebook....well done for getting started! My hubby & #2 son were back to school yesterday too & #1 son back to work today. Christmas was packed away here on Sunday so today has felt like a good time to start my New Years Resolution of 'Making Time for Creativity'...& that includes a bit of Blog hopping!! happy New Year!

  9. It is hard going back to work after a break, hope it went well. I like the idea of Apartment Therapy, I constantly plan to be more organised, efficient, tidy, but have resigned myself to working at a slow pace and hoping that I will get there eventually!

I have got my sewing machine out already and made a pair of cushions for my sons camper . I will post about them soon, I was rather pleased with the result!!

I have ideas for being fitter too, too much indulgence over Christmas and a virus has left me lethargic and lacking motivation. I have started to walk 45 mins a day and to also drink more water. Cheers - raising a glass to you!
