Lanterns and pancakes

As we are officially into the Chinese New Year I thought this picture was kind of appropriate

This was a building that we saw in Belgium and it had been covered in paper lanterns and temporarily opened as a Chinese Tea House. So pretty.
Today is Shrove Tuesday and we all know what that means. Pancakes! So easy to make, why do I only think about cooking them on Shrove Tuesday? Anyway, I am stocked up on people's favourite toppings and ready to go for tonight. My favourite topping is the traditional lemon juice with a sprinkling of caster sugar (although I have been known to eat the corner off of my son's if it is spread with Nutella) What's yours?

Lemon and Sugar. You can't beat the basics! Blackcurrant jam is favourite number 2 and caramel sauce topping for icecream is 3. Won't be having them tonight as off to see a concert. I also never think about them except for Pancake day!

Just butter and that's it! Sometimes we have them for tea on a Sunday too (mainly because dh quite likes making them, so I suggest them as often as I can)

Oh yes, lemon and sugar :-) Can't have Nutella 'cos of the nuts... I have been tempted by maple syrup or (homemade) chocolate sauce, but I like them the traditional way best :-)

Hi..I have come to your blog via Sian 'From High in the sky'...& I just know I will be back ....our pancakes tonight will be traditional with lemon & sugar...the 'N' word is not allowed in our house, let alone the product itself!....I would eat it straight from the jar by the spoonful..!!!

I actually made some tonight and I really like the syrup and cream version too! After reading Sian's post today it has all become clear about 'horsey'- bless !

I completely forgot! I have all the ingredients to make pancakes and nothing to put on them!!! *So frustrated* My choice would have been one with nutella and then one with Lemon and sugar.
