Absentees

Dear fellow bloggers,
My apologies for being AWOL for the last few days; it's been a bit hectic! First of all, my son is back from uni for a week so I am grabbing precious mum time with him before he heads back on Friday. He's decided that he wants to apply for a PGCE course to become a secondary school teacher so I have been going through all the application paperwork with him, and giving opinion on his personal statement. He's had the opportunity to go and observe a teacher in the local Grammar school too so that has taken up two of his days.
Return of son = much washing and ironing. When he was younger and living at home, the pile of ironing would fill me with despair, but I'm kind of enjoying having his clothes in the basket again. (did I really just say that??? The words 'enjoy' and 'ironing' in the same sentence?)
Tonight we have my sister and brother in law over for dinner. You know the expression 'chalk and cheese' - that's us. I am Mrs Messy, she is Mrs Neat. I am Mrs Disorganised, she is Mrs Streamlined. I am Mrs I-hate-housework, she is Mrs Hoover-and-dust-every-day. So, inviting her over for dinner requires much hoovering/dusting/clearing up before their arrival. Plus the opportunity to spend my day off making a mess in the kitchen! Chocolate brownie cupcakes baking in the oven at the moment and I now need to get started on an alternative dessert 'Orange Boodle Fool'.
Am I excused? I promise normal service will be resumed!

Enjoy your evening...& as you are so like me...enjoy the fact that the housework is all up to date for a day or two before it all slides back into dissaray again!!! I hate ironing with a vengence & can't imagine ever having a reason to celebrate it...but then my boys are still young...there's time yet!!!! :)

Here we would call that mis-match "Felix and Oscar" after the popular sitcom "The Odd Couple" from the early 70's. But taking time to be with family is ALWAYS an acceptable excuse to be AWOL from blogging! Enjoy the time with your son and extended family.

I hate ironing. I almost never do any - we're the creased family!

I think you can easily be excused for wanting to spend time with your son! xx

a son home is the bestest excuse :0 All your cleaning and ironing and cooking though has tired me out lol I generally use son being home as an excuse to avoid those well, not the cooking :)

Good luck to your Son, I'm sure he'll do well. They really value experience, so the more he can get in any sense the better -helping at schools/after school clubs/scouts etc.

Spending time with loved ones is more important than housework and hope you had a lovely time. (PS Does your Ms. Neat friend make her house all messy before you visit her? :))

I am not an up to date housework type - you amke up for it by baking all of those delicious morsels!

If you're using 'enjoy' and 'ironing' in the same sentence.....you may need some therapy!!!
Enjoy your time with your son.
