Is it right that I should be considering another project before I have fully finished the last one? Or will signing up for something else inspire me to get those last 3 pages done ...
Well the new class being offered by Shimelle is on this website and it does look like it will be fun.
I do have a lot of photos of different places I have been, and I am going somewhere new very soon ... it would be a shame not to document it all, wouldn't it?! OK, you've convinced me, I'm going to sign up ;-)

Personality traits
I'm gradually getting through the This Year project and my little book is filling up nicely - 3 pages to go. However, yesterday when I was working on a page I realised that this little book is a perfect example of my approach to things.
I was so eager to get this started, and with best intentions to follow the instructions to the letter and learn, improve and get inspired by others. Gathered my 'goodies' together ... extra wait for the start due to website problems ... so when it came through - whoosh! I had to get started. I was like a little scrapping whirling dervish, woe betide anyone who wanted to use the study, the desk was MY territory. Consequently, I did my own thing, didn't try anything new and ended up with same old, same old. After the initial burst of 'gotta get this done', I relaxed, was there a time limit?, had I read all the last instructions? Was I copying Shimelle's layout? no no and no.
So the last few days I have been more creative, I've done what Shimelle suggested, I've taken my time. And you know what? I am more happy with these pages. Now I only have 3 more to do and I want to make these better than the rest.
Someone once told me that you should not approach things as if they are a race, more a marathon. Don't take things too fast, take time to prepare and enjoy. Wise words.

Travelling
After weeks of investigating and negotiating, we have finally found somewhere to spend a week at Easter! Had to be somewhere hopefully warmer than here, flying out from Stansted on either a Saturday or Sunday and preferably somewhere we hadn't been before. We ended up with a choice of Gran Canaria or Tunisia and we have chosen Tunisia. It's not somewhere I have ever considered going to in the past but the more I read about it, the more it appealed. Also we've been to three of the other Canary Islands and I am sure that GC is not much different to the others. But Tunisia will be very different!
Paul would be happy to just read a brochure and listen to a travel agent, but investigation for me revolves round Googling the hotels, and then going on Tripadvisor, Holiday watchdog.com and Holidays uncovered to read what holidaymakers have said on their return. If I can find positive comments on all three, I feel safe to make a booking! Is this just me - or is it a female v male perspective?
Anyway, the hotel looks fab, the beach looks fab, and internet site comments say the food is good so I have my fingers firmly crossed! However, I really do think my wardrobe needs an update, I don't seem to have anything suitable to wear ... ;-)

Mini Me
In the continuing absence of the Shimelle prompt and the extra days off from work thanks to the snow, I decided to do a scrap page of my own design using some old black and white photos of me as a child. I'm not sure how old I am in either of them, less than a year in the first one and probably about 3 or 4 in the second.
What doesn't come across in black and white photos (thankfully) is quite how ginger my hair was when I was little, although it thankfully turned auburn as I got older and now it is whatever colour me and my hairdresser decide on ;-)

The good, the bad and the ugly
School's shut again ! YAY!!! But I have kept myself busy with 
Been busy cooking! Home made seeded white loaf and home made celery soup from Delia Smith's Vegetarian Cookbook Which I won in a raffle at work, would never have bought it normally as a) not vegetarian myself and b) have few vegetarian friends! But have to admit I have cooked lots of recipes out of it and you know with Queen Delia, the recipes will always come out good. So a good healthy lunch. Followed by ...

Well, not bad in a BAD way ie not very nice but bad for those of us whose exercise class was cancelled last night and really ought to be making up for it by eating sensibly and doing some exercise at home

Not often you find me in sensible shoes but these babies got me safely to Sainsburys and back this morning despite the fact that the pavements were like sheets of ice.

Snow!
How pretty everywhere looked when we woke up this morning to about 6" of snow. As I only work part time, I don't work on Mondays anyway but our school was closed so everyone else had a day off too. Train services to London disrupted, so no work for my husband and daughter - a nice extended weekend for us all! So naturally, pictures had to be taken and a scrap page had to be made and here it is
I've used some of the papers and 'rub ons' that I got with my voucher from Bellaboo and I hope I have done them justice! I'm pleased with the result anyway.
Still no further prompt from Shimelle though, do you think she's snowed in somewhere with no internet access?
More to the point, will there be another snow day tomorrow at work? The school I work at is at the top of a private road, therefore no gritters venture up there. As it's snowed more or less constantly all day, I'm guessing it's quite thick up there. Surely it won't melt by tomorrow ..... ;-)

To all the mums
Someone sent me this as an email and it made me smile so in the absence of prompts from Shimelle and pictures of my pages, I will share it with you -
TO ALL THE GREAT MUMS I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.. 'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground and you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs' I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Mummy, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart.' I was thinking quickly. 'All mums know this stuff. It's on the Mummy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mummy.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'OH... I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy.' 'Exactly,' I replied back with a big smile on my face.
When you're finished laughing send this to a Mum
